# sdm admin groups create-from-role

```shell
NAME:
   sdm admin groups create-from-role - create Group from Role
USAGE:
   sdm admin groups create-from-role role-id [role-id2 ...]
   This command facilitates migration from Roles to Groups. Using this command preserves User access to Resources while migrating Users from Roles to Groups.
   Given a Role this command will:
   - Create a Group with the same name as the Role
   - Assign the Group to the Role
   - Assign all Users from the Role to the Group
   - Remove all Users from the Role
   - Replace an Approver Role with a Approver Group on all assigned Approval Workflows
   If the Role is managed by a SCIM provider, the new Group will be managed by the SCIM provider instead, ensuring membership stays up to date. The Role will be managed directly by StrongDM.
OPTIONS:
   --timeout value  set time limit for command
   --commit         make the changes permanent
```
